Surge in targeted killings on Muharram’s eve part of conspiracy to instigate sectarian riots: MQM KARACHI, Nov 4: Condemning the sudden surge in targeted killings on the eve of Muharram in the city, Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee said that such heinous crimes were part of a an organised conspiracy to instigate sectarian-riots in the metropolis. Voicing its concern over increase in the targeted killings in the city, the Coordination Committee deplored that a number of Shia community people, including a worker MQM Orangi Sector’s Unit-118-A, Mansoor Ali, an owner of a tailoring shop in Liaquatabad’s Zeenat Square, Nadeem Haider and a worker of the party’s Unit-157, Muhammad Hussain and Shoaib who were sitting at the shop were killed in terrorists’ attacks on Monday while a Zuljinnah was sprayed with bullets by terrorists in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, resulting in the martyrdom of both the Zuljinnah and its caretaker. The Coordination Committee said that the targeted killings on the eve of Muharram clearly indicated such incidents were part of an organized conspiracy to instigate sectarian riots in the city and to pitch Shia against Sunni. Deploring over surge in targeted killings, it said that the citizens were justified in asking the authorities that why such heinous crimes were taking place when a targeted operation was already under way in the city. The Coordination Committee demanded of President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, to take immediate notice of the conspiracy which is aimed at instigating sectarian riots in the metropolis. It also appealed to both the Shia and Sunni communities not to get provoked over such heinous crime so as to foil the conspiracy of instigating sectarian riots. At the outset, the Committee expressed its sympathy with the members of the bereaved families and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace.
