Surprise Blockbuster Snow Event? 2 of 5 The set up: Ive been watching this one for several days.. I think I told you guys back on the Wednesday to circle the 27th as a potential snowstorm date and give or take a few hours, that still looks to be the case. We have another clipper that will ride out of Canada, into the plains states and into the Mid Atlantic. It will travel to our south very early Monday morning and head out to sea. A secondary low develops and the energy from the clipper looks to be transferred to this coastal low. A very similar situation as to what was seen this past Wednesday.. however there is a difference. There is an area of high pressure modeled to our north that would create a Block which is essentially an atmospheric traffic jam. It would allow the area of low pressure to move slower and thus allow more time for rapid intensification, which looks to happen just off the Jersey shore... right where you want it for good snows. Unlike the past couple events, the models slow this one down and it affects us for 24 hours or more.
