Survivor Series 2004 Date: November 14th Venue: Gund Arena, Cleveland, Ohio Attendance: 7,500 Theme Song: Ugly by The Exies Results... 1. Spike Dudley def. Billy Kidman, Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero in a fatal four way match to retain the Cruiserweight Championship 2. Shelton Benjamin def. Christian to retain the Intercontinental Championship 3. Team Guerrero (Eddie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, Big Show and John Cena) def. Team Angle (Kurt Angle, Luther Reigns, Mark Jindrak and Carlito) in a Survivor Series match 4. The Undertaker def. Heidenreich 5. Trish Stratus def. Lita via DQ to retain the Womens Championship 6. JBL def. Booker T to retain the WWE Championship 7. Team Orton (Randy Orton, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho and Maven) def. Team Triple H (Triple H, Batista, Edge and Snitsky) in a Survivor Series match The show was in the middle of my favorite era, the Ruthless Aggression Era and right in its glory days. The old Cruiserweight division, one of the best if not the best divas rivalry between Trish Status and Lita on the show, the demented Heidenreich doing battle with a legend in The Undertaker and a lot of future or wasted stars. When it comes to wasted stars you look at the likes of Maven, Shelton Benjamin, Carlito, Mark Jindrak and Luther Reigns who WWE could have done a lot with. Shelton could have easily been WWE Champion one day, an outstanding athlete who WWE never gave the brass ring to, despite his outstanding performances such as the one on the night, defending the Intercontinental Championship to a veteran like Christian. The WWE Championship didnt receive much hype at all, JBL who would go on to be the longest reigning champion in SmackDown history defending to Booker T, we also saw a heated conflict between Cena and Carlito with Carlito running out on the match with his bodyguard, Jesus in which Cena had been stabbed at a nightclub in a great storyline for the United States Championship, something you dont see, a rivalry for the United States Championship being more entertaining than a rivalry for the WWE Championship, but Survivor Series kicked that off. The main event also had the stip where the winning team would each get to be RAW General Manager for one week, Ortons team provailed which helped Orton get back in a high calibre feud with Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship which would culminate in a Last Man Standing match at the 2005 Royal Rumble. Heidenreich actually looked like a threat to The Undertaker which not many superstars do, the demented Heidenreich who makes Bray Wyatt look sweet and innocent gave the fight to The Undertaker in a somewhat entertaining clash of the titans. Heidenreichs character would smooth down in the next year as he turned face and would later be gone from WWE forever. The matches on this show were absolutely great, worth a watch for sure and the background was also absolutely brillaint, one thing today lacks due to the PG Era and the end of the Brand Extension, we saw talent like Triple H, The Undertaker, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, Edge, Eddie Guerrero, JBL, Booker T, Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam in high form, with most competing in some of the most entertaining Survivor Series matches in history. Ill not ruin every moment if you want to check it out, though Josh Matthews now a dummy for wrestlers to beat the crap out of to draw heat also made a highlight in the show. Rate: 8.5/10 #VotV
