Susan McClain, Stuart Oldhams sister in Newaygo, Michigan, has asked me to post the following official obituary on the familys behalf: _____________________________________________________________ Stuart Nolan Oldham was born on October 26, 1953 in Amarillo, Texas and died unexpectedly at his home in Newaygo, Michigan, January 1, 2015. Stuart was a graduate of Amarillo High School in 1972. After graduation, he lived in South Fork, Colorado where he made a career out of building custom log homes, tailor-made wood cabinets, and other wood creations. In 2012, he moved to Newaygo to be closer to his sister, Susan McClain. Stuart loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved looking for mushrooms in the woods and recently had started making custom walking sticks with mushroom handles. Stuart was preceded in death by his father Raymond, mother Mary, and brother Stanley. Surviving family members include his sister Susan, brother-in-law Mike McClain, an aunt, an uncle, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Stuart was godfather to Kaitlyn Stewart, daughter to life-long friend Douglas Stewart of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Among his dearest friends are Weldon and Alice Hunt of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and many others, too numerous to name. There will be a private memorial service in Colorado in the mountains he loved so much. The date for this private memorial is yet to be determined. The family requests that any memorial donations be made in honor of Stuart’s very loving and special dog friend, Pepper. Pepper will remain in the care and keeping of his sister and brother-in-law. All contributions should be made to “Pepper” Oldham in c/o of Susan McClain; 5434 E. Oak Street, Newaygo, Michigan, 49337. _____________________________________________________________
