Swamiji or Shri Datta Swami is a Pari Purna Avatara or the ‘complete incarnation’ of the Lord. The Bhagavad Gita says that the Lord incarnates in every age when there is a downfall of humans, to re-establish dharma. In different incarnations, the Lord undertakes different tasks according to the need of the time. The highest human incarnation of God, the Pari Purna Avatara, means that the Lord who has come down in human form, dwells in that human body from its birth to its end and also expresses His inseparable characteristic of the True, Infinite, and Divine Knowledge. Lord Brahma (the Lord in the aspect of Creator) came in such a full form as sage Vasishta who preached the Yoga Vasistham or Jnana Vasistham. Then Lord Vishnu (the Lord in the aspect of the Sustainer) came in such full form as Lord Krishna and preached the Bhagavad Gita. Lord Shiva (the Lord in the aspect of the Destroyer of Ignorance) came as Adi Sankaracharya and preached the Bhashyam. The Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, together is called as Dattatreya or Lord Datta. Lord Datta has now come down as a Pari Purna Avatara, to impart the Divine Knowledge to us. He stands before us as Shri Datta Swami. Swamijis mission in the world is to establish a Universal Spirituality based on the Divine knowledge. He says that God is One and has come down (as human incarnations) in different parts of the world and in different ages to preach the same Divine knowledge. If this principle is not accepted then one would have to accept that God is partial and gave the Truth to only a certain people, at a certain time and the rest are damned to eternal hell for no fault of theirs. The Divine knowledge preached by the Lord is recorded in the scriptures of the world. The essential message of all the scriptures is the same. However in each incarnation, God preached according to the prevailing culture, mindset, level of understanding and language of the people. Therefore, even though the same God preached the same knowledge in all the scriptures of the world, they appear different to us. This is the cause of all the strife and tension between different religions. In order to bring about a lasting world peace, it is necessary to resolve the apparent contradictions in different religions starting from their scriptures. The rational and learned scholars of each religion need to analyze their own religion according to the principle that the same God preached the same knowledge in different ways. Those aspects that violate this principle in each religion must be dispensed with and the principles of other religions that are in keeping with this principle should be accepted. This will enable the evolution and sublimation of each religion. Those who fail to adapt and evolve are sure to stagnate and disintegrate. Only when the scriptures of the world are unified, will the animosity between religions end. Followers of each religion will be able to practice their religion in a free and nourishing atmosphere. The sincere spiritual aspirant will not be bogged down by the narrow and restrictive walls of tradition and religion. The path to God will be glorified. In past incarnations of Datta, the wonderful divine knowledge was not given since there was no need of it then. Today, more than ever, there is a real need for this wonderful Divine Knowledge. The situation is rather peculiar. People are not ignorant about the true knowledge. They are highly intelligent and they know the truth but they dont like it. They want to reach the true goal by the false and convenient path. For this purpose they have twisted the meaning of the Vedas and the Gita. Therefore there is a dire need at present, for Lord Datta Himself to come down and reveal the true knowledge to the wonderful people. Lord Datta needs a human body to preach the knowledge. He has come in the form of Shri Datta Swami to give this Divine and special knowledge to us. Swamiji leads a simple life in Vijayawada, located in the south Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
