Swansea City 2-2 Newcastle United - My Match Review: The moment the players came through the tunnel, it seemed like we were in for a great game of football. The match was open, but the first half was controlled by the Swans. Routledge and Dyer causing problems either side of Bony with Shelvey pulling the strings. Youd think life was hard for Coloccini and his defence with the fans chanting at their manager We want Pardew out! Your football is shut. Your football is shiiiit! Things werent helped as Bony was involved in a delightful build up play to finish off a great move. The Swans had the momentum, Bony flicking the ball to Sigurdsson, but he wasnt tall enough to lift it over Krul. But the game truly came to life in the last 8 minutes, Shelvey swinging in an unbelievable cross to Ki at the back post to somehow miss from a couple of yards. Sigurdsson swung a ball in moments later, Ki was unmarked 8 yards out but hit the top of his foot and went behind the Korean. 2 golden chances gone, but the Swans kept pushing, and if it wasnt for a vital intervention by no other than Krul, Bonys reaction shot would have made it 2-0. But moments after, Colback found Obertan on the right, worked Taylor well but when nothing seemed on, he put it into Cisse to somehow guide home. A sucker punch it seemed for the Swans, Tiote held the midfield unbelievably well. Half Time - Swansea 1 Newcastle 1: The 2nd half began at a slow pace, but Sigurdsson retrieved the ball well to slip in Routledge, whos delightful dink over Tim Krul found the back of the net. Swansea were on top for a bit, Shelvey, Bony and a Man of the match ex Newcastle winger, Routledge, combining very well. But at the same time, Newcastle found our weak spot of today, and that was Jazz Richards at Right back. He made quite a few errors, only to just about recover in time. But the crucial sub was made, Sammy Ameobi, younger brother of Shola, was brought on to replace Colback. Riviere was also to come on. But, Swansea were getting a few let offs, Richards was getting out paced by Ameobi, the defence were struggling to clear but Newcastle were going further back and in the 71st minute, the big keeper Tim Krul denied Bony at the exact same reflexes and chance as the first half. And 3 minutes later, a dreadful clearance by Federico Fernandez I think it was went out to Ameobi, whos pin-point cross found Cisse in the 6 yard box for another poachers finish. Newcastle had their tails up, and a scramble in the box fell to Cisse on a hat trick 3-4 yards out and somehow put it over the bar. It was a let off, the Swans fans were getting restless, the travelling Toon Army were making noise, and as time ticked on, The Swans brought on Montero and Emnes for a last burst of energy up top for a tired Sigurdsson and Dyer. But the 2-goal hero for the travellers was replaced by Ayoze Perez. Like his debut against Man City, he was through on goal straight away, but Williams got back quick as Swansea were struggling. But, with Tiote on a yellow card, before Shelvey clipped the ball into the box, decided to kick the ball away, second yellow? Discuss in the comments. Newcastle threatened again but wanted the full time whistle as Janmaat, the Right Back who had a torrid afternoon defending, let fly from 35 yards, forcing Fabianski into a good save with loads of swerve on it. But, a desperate Shelvey clearance found Emnes running clean through on goal. But he didnt use the pace the Swans have been used to, rustiness maybe from injury? Forcing a comfortable stop for Krul to tip behind. Ameobi looked dangerous still but the full time whistle went after a breath taking game of football. Monk and Pardew, solid Centre halves in their hayday, didnt make that game look like a tight and patient affair. - Kieran
