Sweden based LIFE Academy staff and trainees visited CST LIFE Academy is based in the city of Karlstad in Sweden with a mission to contribute to a sustainable development in the world by providing opportunities for learning through International Training Programmes. The training programmes are organized in a number of technical and administrative fields with the support of the Sweden International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). This year, The International training programme in the field of ICT was about ICT and Pedagogical Development” and 25 participants from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe were selected to the programme. The programme also includes a regional workshop that takes place in one of the participating countries. Rwanda was selected as the host county for the regional workshop that takes place from January 12th -17th, 2015. It is in this respect that a study tour was organised at the UR-College of Science and Technology on January 13th , 2015 with the objective to share international knowledge on ICT in Education and to learn from the Rwandan Experience of ICT as a pedagogical tool in the educational system. In his welcoming remarks, the Principal of CST Professor Manasse Mbonye thanked the delegation for choosing Rwanda as their host country and emphasised the importance Rwanda and UR in particular attaches to ICT ,testimony to that is that the Department of computer engineering at CST has been elevated from a department to a school headed by a dean with fully operational departments under it. He wished them a comfortable stay during their time in Rwanda. The delegation of the LIFE ACADEMY was headed by Bo Gillgren the Programme Coordinator -Sweden and Alpana Mukherjee the local programme coordinator.
