Sweet Bosco came to BRBR in March. We knew he had a broken pelvis - TopicsExpress

Sweet Bosco came to BRBR in March. We knew he had a broken pelvis when we rescued him and knew it would heal over time. Over the last 4 weeks, it was noted that Bosco was walking like he was in pain (which we attributed to his pelvis) but his foster mom also saw he was short of breath, not eating well and not gaining weight. We took Bosco to the vet about a week ago this past week for an ultrasound and another exam but werent given an definitive answer. His foster family lives in VA so we brought him to one of our vets in SC and he had an abdominal ultrasound. The ultrasound showed that he definitely had something in his stomach. Well, Bosco had a stick in his stomach! The stick actually elongated his stomach so much that it was pressing on all other organs, so he was short of breath and could only play for a few minutes without getting extremely tired. The stick was removed today and Bosco was touch and go during surgery because the stick had punctured his esophagus when he ate it (he at it prior to being a BRBR dog) and he had food leaking into his lungs. When the vet went to intubate him (put the breathing tube in for surgery) his lungs were full of puss! All of the puss was removed and Bosco was intubated and the stick was removed! The vet made it very clear that Bosco only had a 50/50 chance of making it through surgery but this boy made it and he is recuperating at the vets office now! The stick was 8 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide!!!! We are told as long as everything goes as planned, Bosco will be good as new in a few weeks! Please pray for our sweet boy and consider donating towards his care! His vet bills are over $2000.00! https://youcaring/medical-fundraiser/help-bosco-/175704
