Sweet Home New Orleans is shutting down operations and working - TopicsExpress

Sweet Home New Orleans is shutting down operations and working with partners to ensure their programming continues. From their Facebook page: Sweet Home New Orleans has been unable to generate funding necessary to remain vibrant. Sweet Home continues to believe in the importance of its mission: to create an environment in the New Orleans region where musicians are self-sustaining and thrive. Unfortunately, due to lack of funding, the best way to continue this mission is for Sweet Home to close down direct operations and instead join with organizations with similar missions who can take on portions of Sweet Home’s programming as their own. While Sweet Home no longer has any direct employees, the organization continues to work actively to seek the best and most viable solutions to make that happen. Conversations to this end are ongoing and Sweet Home will advise soon as there is further resolution. In the meantime, Sweet Home is very sorry to share the news that all upcoming Economic Empowerment Education Program courses will be cancelled, with the sole exception of the Fan Engagement program, which will go on as scheduled. Information about the Fan Engagement course will be provided soon to those selected to participate. Sweet Home is hopeful that a solution will be forthcoming for another entity to revive other courses at a future date, but Sweet Home is not in a position to continue these courses at this time. For those of you who have provided personal information in order to apply for Sweet Home courses, Sweet Home will keep your information confidential. As for the Empower Musicians: Seal of Approval Program, discussions are underway to determine whether other organizations are willing to sponsor and nurture the Seal of Approval Program. The venues that have already been awarded the Seal can expect their stickers to be forthcoming. To those venues that have provided information to Sweet Home as part of the certification process, Sweet Home will maintain that information as confidential. Sweet Home thanks the Musicians, Mardi Gras Indians and Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs who have allowed Sweet Home to work hand in hand with them over the last several years. The pleasure was Sweet Home’s. Sweet Home also would like to thank the supporters and all those who worked tirelessly to keep the Sweet Home New Orleans mission front and center. Sweet Home continues to believe in that mission and has high hopes that the programs designed to help further it will live on through other organizations. Sweet Home New Orleans will continue to provide information as the process of closing down the organization continues.
