Sweet Libby was a breeder dog that was being given away for free. A woman took her home, but unfortunately she had a male dachshund that was not neutered. She tried to keep the 2 apart, but obviously that did not work. After finally admitting and recognizing that Libby was pregnant, she was surrendered to one of our foster homes and they took Libby to the vet. The vet did a pregnancy test to confirm what we believed and it was positive. Then he did x-rays to see if he could see any puppies yet. He didnt see the puppies, but he did see some unusual things in her intestinal tract. He was concerned about a blockage, so he gave her barium to help her pass the object. Luckily that worked and Libby passed some cardboard, part of a balloon and pieces of a Q-Tip. Then the vet did a heartworm test and found out Libby is positive. Thank you Dr. Payne for taking such good care of Libby! Libby then needed to get from Jacksonville to Tampa to get to her new foster home. So, Albert Adams, Chief Pilot of Soaring Paws Inc., agreed to fly her to Tampa yesterday. Libby made the flight and is now with her foster mom who is experienced in whelping puppies. Thank you Albert for your help! Luckily the heartworms cannot pass to the puppies, but Libby will have to go through the painful and expensive treatment after the puppies are weaned. Anything you can donate to help with Libby and the puppies vetting, care and costs, is greatly appreciated. If you donate $20, you get a free 2015 FLDR Calendar! Thanks in advance. fnd.us/c/4tYC8/sh/61IKw1
