Swing music has a sound all its own. A back and forth swing motion like a pendulum - accentuating the off-beat in contrast to the classic emphasis on the beat - Swing music developed in the 30s and came into true fashion with the Big Bands of the 1940s. Swing dancing aka the Jitterbug, the Lindy Hop, the Hustle and other sub-species and designations, makes use of a special tension and release motion to swing your partner to and fro.
