Sydney Harbour Bridge from Dorman Longs workshops, c1931 The site shown occupied by the Dorman Long Wharf was formerly occupied by the approach tracks and Loco Depot of the original Milsons Point Railway Station, in use from 1893-1924. In 1924 the station was re-located further north, to permit construction of a huge fabricating shop for Dorman Long, builders of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The shop extended south from the wharf up to the base of the north pylons. A wharf was constructed to transfer steel to and from barges. When the shops were removed in the 1930s, the wharf remained, and on it was built, in 1935, Luna Park and the Dodgem Building, now Crystal Palace. During restoration of the Crystal Palace, a suspended concrete floor was introduced above the wharf. A plaque outlining the wharfs history has been installed on the public foreshore boardwalk.
