Syllabus Contemporary Figure Advanced Figure Modeling--6 to 8 Sundays—Eight Weeks prestonjacksonart 309-657-6808 facebook/home.php#!/profile.php?id=1408174951 This course will emphasize craftsmanship and technique in figure modeling. Students will work from their own photos to insure anatomical and proportional preciseness and to aid eye development. The goal is to model the figure with ultra realism. The student of figure studies should be conditioned to train the mind and the eye to immediately capture the essence of gesture, proportion, attitude and rendering techniques. Students must realize that likeness is only one aspect of expressing the figure. The various elements of design are considered important tools that are used in creating figurative work. The artist’s thinking processes and attitudes plus one’s physical movements are recorded in the outcome of the work, meaning that the marks that are made are a direct result of how the subject affects the maker of the art, and therefore it impacts how the work is communicated to the viewer. Two projects will be assigned: 1. Lifesize high relief mask of a real person, including ears 2.
