Syracuse City schools coi policies BOARD MEMBER CONFLICT OF INTEREST The Board of Education shall avoid acting in circumstances where their personal interest conflicts with that of the public whose interest they have been elected to represent. The actions of the Board shall be governed by the applicable provisions of the General Municipal Law, any other applicable law and the code of ethics established pursuant to Board Policy 2160. No Board member shall vote on any question which involves himself or herself or a member of his or her family. Employment of Relatives No person who is related by blood or marriage to any member of the Board shall be employed by such Board, except upon the consent of two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members of the Board. However, this does not pertain to the continued employment of a tenured employee employed prior to the time the Board member took office. Policy Adoption: August 28, 2002 Policy Revised: May 8, 2012
