Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Bashar Jaafari - TopicsExpress

Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Bashar Jaafari stressed that the briefing provided by Valerie Amos, under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs to Syria about the humanitarian situation there was not accurate: it was false and incomplete and not worthy of the post of Solicitor General of the United Nations for humanitarian affairs nor does it show the latest serious developments on the ground. Jaafari said at a news conference after a meeting of the UN Security Council that Amos did not address the scandal surrounding toxic vaccines in rural Idleb that claimed the lives of dozens of children and for which the WFP was responsible - as the WFP was given access to the cities of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor. Jaafari added Amos did not mention the word terrorist and spoke instead about the armed opposition groups, ignoring the international decision 2178 and ignored the mortar shells on civilian neighborhoods by terrorists. In response to a question about the transfer of UNDOF headquarters for the Golan from Damascus, Al-Jaafari said there was a suggestion within the Department of peacekeeping operations to move the headquarters of UNDOF to the Israeli side: this is contrary to the disengagement agreement of 1974; the Syrian Government explained to them that this is inadmissible and that UNDOF headquarters for the Syrian territory and the Golan Heights Syrian land occupied by Israel must be in Damascus. Jaafari added that the Syrian side of the separation line in Golan is now under the control of terrorists sponsored by Israel, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
