Syrian opposition chief Ahmad Jarba has confirmed that the opposition coalition is ready to take part in the global conference on Syria, dubbed Geneva 2, UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said. "The secretary-general welcomed Jarba’s commitment to send a delegation to the Geneva Conference and urged the National Coalition to reach out to other opposition groups and agree on a representative and united delegation,” Nesirky told reporters. The news followed a meeting between Un Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the head of the Syrian opposition at the UN headquarters.
