S’ East PDP govs shun inauguration of peace committee September 12 , 2014 The aim of finding solutions to the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party suffered a set back on Friday as members of the South- East caucus of the party boycotted the inauguration of the National Integration Committee of the party in Abuja . The committee , which was inaugurated by the National Chairman of the party , Alhaji Adamu Mu’ azu , was saddled with the responsibility of reconciling estranged members of the party across the country . Among the three South East PDP Governors absent were : Martins Elechi ( Ebonyi ), Theodore Orji ( Abia) and Sullivan Chime (Enugu ). Also absent was former Senate President , Ken Nnamani who was named as the chairman of the North- East Zonal Integration Committee of the party . Speaking with journalists at the party ’ s headquarters in Abuja, where the inauguration took place , a former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives , Prince Chibudom Nwuche , said that there has been a wide spread of maginalization of the South- East in the scheme of things . The inauguration of the National Integration Committee, he said , was meant to reconcile aggrieved PDP members in the country but expressed concern that some states were being marginalised. He called on the ruling party to have a rethink . Our correspondent gathered that the governors and other members of the party were aggrieved because they were not listed when the party advertised the committee members . However, a day after the list was published , the National Publicity Secretary of the Party , Chief Olisa Metuh issued a statement in which he appealed to the governors, saying the action was not meant to ridicule them . Metuh, who is from the zone had said , “ The national leadership of PDP wishes to apologize to the leaders and critical stakeholders of the party in the South -East geo-political zone for the unintended omissions in the published list of the PDP Zonal Integration Committee.
