Offered for sale by a Byalee client, Roy was bought from Byalee as a foal with a forever home in mind, he is offered for sale only due to family ill-health and is an unexpected offering on the market. Roy has looks, talent, paces and personality, being brought along gently but firmly by his mature lady rider. Roy is training elementary/medium and is easy to ride through shoulder-in, leg-yielding, trot and canter half-pass and counter canter. He loves to jump and is happy to be ridden over a metre with lots of free-schooling experience as well. He is ridden around the 50-acre property at Byalee – happy to hoon around the dam, just as happy to walk - and survives happily on two or three rides a week with Ann-Maree or Dimity Lourey. Roy is bred to perform, with sire Byalee Romance winning at advanced level before being sold and gelded – Romance is now showing his wonderful temperament by winning interschool dressage competitions in Qld. Lanthan is renowned for his production of rideable horses in all disciplines, and Walt Disney is a licensed son of the legendary World Cup, sire of Weltmeyer. Roy’s dam, Northern Claudia, is by Northern Congress, who sired Australian Olympic representative Northern Charisma with Rachel Downs. Roy has had limited competition experience with his owner due to her judging commitments and her prioritising her FEI horse, but nevertheless scored more than 69% at preliminary at his last outing last month. This follows many other placings of a similar calibre at this level. Judges’ comments have included: ‘quality paces’, ‘willing horse’ ‘horse is very elastic and shows talent’. Roy could be offered at a higher price, but is reduced to $22,000 in recognition of his limited outings for his age. However, he does have the advantage of being able to compete at preliminary level with his advanced education behind him.
