TAMAN CONNAUGHT: A man ignoring the convenience of an overhead bridge at the East-West Link Highway in Taman Connaught died after being hit by two cars in his attempt to cross the road. The jaywalker was run over by two cars and caused another to crash into a road divider during the 1.25am incident Monday. Police reported that the man failed to anticipate the oncoming cars on the three-lane highway and foolishly tried to cross it. Deputy Supt Markandan Subramaniam said the man ran onto the road so suddenly that motorist in a Perodua MyVi could not brake her car in time and crashed into him. The impact flung the man onto the middle lane of the road and was then run over by a Honda Accord.The man was caught under the car and was dragged for about 100 meters on the road. “As that happened, there was a Toyota Vios traveling towards the crashes in the middle lane. “The driver swerved to avoid the accidents, lost control of the vehicle and then crashed into the highway road divider,” he said. While the three car drivers reportedly escaped unhurt, the man who caused the crashes died on the spot.His identity is yet to be unknown.The body was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem.
