#TANZEEL Undeclared curfew in Palhalan for 4th day Forces carry out searches of residential houses Srinagar, Oct 19: Palhalan area of Baramulla district remained under undeclared curfew for fourth consecutive day Saturday while as forces carried out searches of residential houses. Residents said that large contingents of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of JKP carried out searches in Dar Mohalla, Gojri Mohalla, Bhat Mohalla and New Colony localities of Palhalan on Saturday. On Wednesday (Eid day) youth allegedly attacked a police bus in the town due to which the driver lost control of the bus. The bus collided with an electricity pole resulting in the death of driver Karnail Singh from Singhpora, Delina Baramulla. Police has registered a case vide FIR No. 264/2013 under section 302, 153, 153B and 120A of RPC to investigate death of the driver. However, no one has been arrested so far. Locals said that while carrying out the searches today, the forces questioned the inmates. The residents also said that for the fourth consecutive day Saturday, the forces did not allow them to come out of their houses. The residents alleged since the death of the cop, forces are on a rampage. They said forces not only ransacked the houses but beat the inmates and set the carts belonging to vendors on fire. The residents said that forces have erected barricades at all the exit and entrance points of Palhalan and nobody is allowed to enter or leave the area. The forces have kept on standby armored vehicles and certain points are blocked either with barbered wire or forces parties. They added that they were not able to distribute sacrificial meat among relatives and no relative was allowed to enter the area. However, police denied these allegations saying that youth of Palhalan are responsible for the murder of an innocent policeman. “There is no curfew in the town. We have imposed restrictions as a precautionary measure. We appeal elders of the town to come forward and assure us that no such incident occurs in future,” Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), North Kashmir, J.P.Singh said, adding that it has become a routing for the youth in Palhalan to attack any police vehicle passing through the area. Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Ghulam Ahmed Khawaja, said that he would visit the town to ascertain the situation. “There is no curfew in the town and I appeal people to restart their business. People are themselves not opening the shops as they know an innocent policeman has been murdered by angry and agitated youth in the town,” he said.
