TASMANIAN DIARY "Island", Tasmania’s literary and culture magazine, will launch its 134th issue in both the north and south of the state in September. Author, historian and founder of the Beaconsfield Festival of Golden Words, Stephen Dando Collins, will launch Island in the Launceston art space, Sawtooth ARI, on September 21 at 2pm. The Hobart launch will take place at the Moonah Arts Centre on September 22 at 2pm. This event will also feature the announcement of the winner of one of Australia’s most pretigious poetry competitions, the Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize. Issue 134 features a profile on living Tasmanian legend, painter Max Angus, an interview with author Nigel Featherstone, new fiction from Heather Rose, Anica Boulanger Mashberg and Tadhg Muller. The issue also contains new poetry and a profile piece of enigmatic literary character, D’Arcy D’Oliveres. The launch events are free but Island requests RSVPs for catering purposes: admin@islandmag.
