TATTOO REMOVAL: If you know of a gang member or other person who is trying to set straight their life and who needs to remove gang or other tattoos so that they can begin to remove some of the barriers to employment and otherwise mainstreaming into society, the next Oxnard Tattoo Removal Clinic will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. (Clinics are usually held on the third Saturday of each month.) Services are free and no appointment is necessary, but due to overwhelming response, space is limited and patients are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Orientation for first time participants will be at 9:00 a.m. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The tattoo removal clinic will be at Las Islas Womens Clinic, 2400 S. C St. (at C St. & Coach C Ln.) For more information, contact Las Islas Family Medical Group at (805) 204-9500. (The clinics are made possible due to the collaborative efforts of 3rd District County Supervisor Kathy Long, Ventura County Health Care Agency, Ventura County Public Health, Ventura County Probation Agency, Oxnard Police Department, Las Islas Family Medical Group, Interface Children Family Services, the Oxnard Alliance for Community Strength, and CalWORKS. Acquisition of the laser machine was made possible through Oxnards Operation PeaceWorks (OPW) gang intervention program with funding from a California Gang Reduction, Intervention, Prevention (CalGRIP) program grant.)
