Kuraki - a detective at the Public Safety Bureau of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department - finds the dismembered body of his wife in the casualties. However Osugi from the First Investigation Division gets surprised that Kuraki doesnt show any emotion while asking the details of the case. A few days later, Osugi questions Miki (Yoko Maki) - a police officer from the Public Safety Bureau who also happened to be at the site of the incident, but he cant draw out any information.
