TCSS cactus rescue yesterday. One of the plants we had state tags for were Mammillaria grahamii(Arizona Fishhook Pincushion Cactus)-one of my specialties. The survivors of our long drought and weird winters had plumped up very nice from the rain of last week. If you dont know the plant many of our diggers walked by thousands of nice specimens. One of their favorite spots to grow is under the protection of Ambrosia deltoidea(Triangle Leaf Bursage). pic#1 Ambrosia deltoidea-pic#2 what was under the dead branches.-#3 about 20 minutes of digging(ended up with about 6 wheelbarrows full. #4 Some were very nice specimens. All will be looking for a new home at our Blooming Barrel Sale August 17th. Every plant there were legally doomed to the garbage heap had we not the volunteers to selflessly spend their time and money saving them for the public. I will show the other two species we concentrated on with the permission of the developer and after paying the state for each plant dug.
