TDP Banner FROM JAKOB STEWART As a Texan, I’ve always supported the Texas Democratic Party. And that’s why I’m so excited about the big changes at the TDP -- and to announce that I’m joining the Texas Democratic Party as Political Director. Like so many great Texas Democrats, I was born and raised in Waco. After finishing college at UT, I got the opportunity of a lifetime to work for my hometown Congressman, Chet Edwards. In May 2006, I packed my bags and moved to Cleburne to organize volunteers and voters in Johnson, Hood and Somervell Counties. I know about running -- and winning -- tough campaigns. As Political Director, I’m responsible for building our party and helping campaigns win. So I want to share with you how we will win in 2014. We’re going to define our opponents on the issues before they define us. If they hit us, we’re going to hit them back twice as hard. That’s the philosophy I learned on Chet Edwards’ race, and his campaign to put a Democrat in the most Republican Congressional district in the entire county. Even in a district where George W. Bush is your constituent, a Democrat can win if you work hard. That’s exactly what this party will do in 2014. The TDP is hiring the best and the brightest from around the country and deploying an aggressive political program that will place staff across the state. Staff from our political shop will be working tirelessly across the entire state to make sure that our candidates, county parties and Democratic clubs have all the resources, training and support they need to turn our state Blue. Like so many other Democrats in Texas, I was inspired by Senator Wendy Davis’ courageous filibuster this past June, and the work of many members of the Democratic Caucus in the House and Senate to stand with Texas women. I want more fierce Democratic leaders like these elected come 2014. Leaders who will fight for equal pay for women, good schools for our kids and opportunity for all Texans. And that’s my vision for the political shop at the TDP -- electing bold Democrats that fight for Texas families across this great state. Texans have always been fighters.
