TEACHER ENCOURAGED STUDENTS TO HIT A BULLY... SHE IS IN TROUBLE FOR TELLING STUDENTS TO HIT ANOTHER STUDENT...WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE WAS ALERT THE PARENTS THAT THEIR CHILDREN WERE BEING BULLIED... AND SPEAK WITH THE PARENTS OF THE BULLY... THEN ARRANGE FOR SOME SORT OF ACTION TO BE TAKEN BY THE PRINCIPLE IN THE SCHOOL IF THE BULLY DID NOT STOP....AND AT THE SAME TIME ASSURE THE STUDENTS THAT THE BULLY WAS ATTACKING...THAT THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO DEFEND THEMSELVES... A San Antonio, Texas elementary school teacher has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for urging her students to hit a classmate who has been a bully to them, reports say. Salinas Elementary School teacher Cynthia Ambrose, 44, had tears in her eyes in the courtroom when she was sentenced by state District Judge Sid Harle this week. Ambrose was convicted in June of official oppression, a state misdemeanor. In remarks from the bench, Judge Harle said, “This is absolutely a parent’s worst nightmare. They send their children … and entrust you with them.” In her own defense, though, Ambrose said she wasn’t a mean person and said, “I hope and pray that all parties involved find peace.” The incident, which occurred in 2012, was a shock to the community. Witnesses alleged that Ambrose brought then 6-year-old Aiden Neely to the front of the class and told all the students to come up and punch him because she said he had been seen hitting another student. The witness, another teacher, was given immunity in exchange for her testimony. One child even testified that Ambrose urged them to hit the boy harder when they didn’t hit him hard enough to suit her. Ambrose will be barred from teaching for two years but will be able to serve her sentence on weekends at the Bexar County jail. Ambrose’s attorneys said that the kids were too young to properly remember what happened. They “misunderstood” what had actually happened. Without having been there, we can only make assumptions about what happened, here. But with the absurd focus on “bullying” going on, all too often boys are being expected to act like quiescent little girls and any vestige of being a boy is dealt with as if the kid was a criminal in the making. So, what do you guys think? Tell us below.
