TEAM 4X4 IL – Jeeps Mobilize for the Community Association No. 580587673 Background TEAM 4X4 IL is a non-profit association of Jewish and Arab Jeep owners who work together, on a volunteer basis, for the good of the community, during both ordinary times and in emergency situations. TEAM 4X4 IL comprises drivers of 4X4 vehicles, aerial photography equipment that streams visual information, and a pool of additional volunteers. The seeds for the organization were sown during the Jerusalem snowstorm of 2014, when numerous jeep owners worked with the Jerusalem Municipality to provide assistance by rescuing snowbound residents and delivering medical and other vital equipment to people all over the city. Activity TEAM 4X4 IL is now the official hilly terrain unit for Magen David Adom (MDA) Jerusalem and its members are being trained by MDA. They will assist MDA in supplying more far-reaching, professional service in difficult terrain where efficient personnel, 4X4 vehicles, navigation skills, and familiarity with outlying areas are all required. TEAM 4X4 IL has reciprocal relations with various organizations and non-profit associations such as, “Lev Ehad”, “Hashomer Hehadash”, “Mitchabrim”, “Zichron Menachem”, “Hatzola” and “Zaka”. In the framework of these relationships the organization is working to establish a Command and Control System to support the population in times of emergency until municipal services can be supplied. An additional objective of TEAM 4X4 IL is to institutionalize relationships with the Department for Emergencies and Security at the Jerusalem Municipality and with the Home Front Command to upgrade Search and Rescue services and provide a significant auxiliary force to work with the security services in times of emergency. In normal times, TEAM 4X4 IL volunteers provide transportation services to organizations and institutions that hold outings for populations who are ill or have special needs. It also donates to the needy via contributions solicited from various bodies. In times of emergency, TEAM 4X4 IL assists MDA where necessary in transporting staff to outlying areas and bringing medical assistance to the field, for example, in the event of large fires. It provides assistance in locating and evacuating people from their homes (especially those with limited movement ability); assistance locating missing persons outdoors; and support to the home front during times of emergency. It also collects whatever is necessary and distributes it to IDF soldiers. Examples of TEAM 4X4 activities include: “Yad al HaLev” – trips in the Ya’ar Ben Shemen Forest for 250 autistic children “Zichron Menachem’ – a trip from Mt. Herzl to Gush Etzion as part of a “fun day” for child cancer patients and their families Support to MDA Jerusalem during three huge fires in the Ein Karem area During Operation Protective Edge – Collection and distribution of donations to residents of Sderot, Ashkelon and Beersheba Collection and distribution of donations to IDF soldiers on the Gaza Perimeter Visits to hospitalized IDF soldiers and distribution of gifts Condolence calls to the homes of bereaved families Need for Resources and Donations To realize our vision to contribute to the welfare of the general population, TEAM 4X4 IL requires an operational, financial and logistic infrastructure. This infrastructure will enable the organization to train volunteers; equip them with operational and protective gear; and support their activity with fuel, water, food, communications equipment, a command post, insurance, advertising, and more. The preceding strengthen members professionally and help to sustain the spirit of volunteerism. Currently this infrastructure is supported personally by TEAM 4X4 IL founders and the volunteers themselves. During Operation Protective Edge TEAM 4X4 IL volunteers traveled up and down the country to collect donations and distribute them to soldiers at the front and to civilians in need. TEAM 4X4 IL needs contributions to supply the items listed above, either via cash donations to the association, or via donations of equipment that would meet operational and logistic needs.
