The big irony about Radio Shacks downward spiral, at least in my view: At one time they were a great resource for DIY electronics types. If you needed a capacitor, resistor or even chip you had a good chance of finding it there. They changed their focus however, and chose to compete at retail with bigger stores. This sort of worked for a while, but Internet stores have hit retail hard. Worse, now that DIY is back in vogue with the Maker movements and such theyre no longer properly equipped to take advantage of that market. If I were at the helm of Radio Shack, Id be working on getting back to their roots and providing what people need to actually make things again. 3D printing, arduino, beagle boards... All the sorts of things they could be taking advantage of but arent.
