Good evening CPP how are you tonight Im the guest team captain my name is Mike Pruitt and its a pleasure to be the captain of the night I will like to give you a brief background on Who I am Ive been playing pool for 10 years 5 years consistently I am also a sponsored player for Lucasi Hybrid cues and Kamui who plays out of the New York City area I would like to think Im well respected in the pool community my rant for the night will be about the status of pool. Right at this moment there there are 128 players at the US Open but yet there is not a major corporate sponsor to back the event. Golf is currently going through the same issues as sponsors are now leaving golf due to lower ratings. The funny thing about pool is when you go to Asia or European countries its on primetime television at 8 p.m at night but even in those countries its not getting corporate sponsorship from a global level so we have to look at the pool from a different perspective. Countries like Qatar however have government backing countries like China actually have government backing to ensure the survival of the sport they realize the longevity and success has brought to their countries . This isnt something thats going to be fixed overnight and no I do not have the answer for it but to hear other people potentially speak about it can make a dIfference. I heard that the players meeting today at the US Open that there may be some light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to corporate sponsorships next year maybe pool is finally heading in the right direction but we still need the support of every player out there to be involved engaged in the sport and being in groups like CPP will help to ensure that.
