TEAM UNITY ENDORSES CONAREE MPS MENS GROUP ================ On Sunday 14th September 2014, the Conaree Community hosted an event dubbed the MPs of Conaree. Emphasis was placed on Men’s Purpose, Power and Plan in their role in society and more specifically in the Conaree Community. Special speakers were Mr. Analdo Bailey, Rev. Spencer Watts, Mr. Delwayne Delaney, Dr. Dale Crawford and Dr. Joylette Woodley. Rev. Watts spoke about the role men play in society and in the church. He reiterated the lack of men who take up the responsibility to be leaders in their homes and society. He urged the men who were present to be responsible and reminded them that God is still counting on them. Dr. Crawford and Dr. Woodley spoke about men’s health. They both gave very important insight as to the stereotypes that hinder men from visiting their doctors. He made mention of the seriousness of having a personal doctor and having regular checkups. Dr. Crawford noted the top diseases which affect men. They are cardiovascular disease, stroke, depression, lung cancer, diabetes and erectile dysfunction. He also stated than women are living 5 years more than men, as opposed to 1 year more just a few years back. Emphasis was made by Dr. Woodley in relation to prostate cancer. She noted that due to the testing methods men are reluctant to get tested but encouraged the men that is an easy process and it can save their lives. The third speaker was Mr. Delaney, son of Conaree, who spoke to men in sports and the opportunities that lie therein. He shared his own experiences, growing up in sports and how he didn’t excel until his post high school days. Nevertheless, he persevered and was able to obtain a full scholarship and travel to many countries representing St. Kitts and Nevis. He also encouraged parents to get their children involved in sports and the importance of having them balance their school work and practice times. He also made mention of being self-sufficient in marketing their talents to the outer world. The final speaker was Mr. Bailey, who spoke about entrepreneurship and how Conaree is laden with opportunities for all to tap into. He noted the many industries than derived out of the Conaree Community and how the community has steered away from that. He listed 5 areas which will enlighten the men to be a pillar in the community; they were spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically and economically. He noted the recent economic activities in the Federation and urged the men to become a part and become involved. Dr. Timothy Harris, Hon.
