TECHNOLOGY VACANCIES POSITION : WEB DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (MICROSOFT) DEPARTMENT : IT – INTERNET PORTFOLIO SCALE CODE : 130 REPORT LINE : INTERNET PORTFOLIO MANAGER MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION To assist in the scoping, building, and support of web sites and web applications for the SABC IT department’s internal and external clients. The individual will form part of a larger development team responsible for the timeous delivery of projects of a high quality and standard. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • Design solutions using various open and Microsoft technologies based on client requirements • Envision and prove new ideas and technologies for implementation or use • Stay abreast of industry trends, relevant technologies, tools, and languages • Able to solve problems not always related to their specific technical background by conducting research and self-learning • Build, document, and maintain solutions using accepted industry methodologies and SABC procedures • Responsibly check-in and curate SABC source code using the available source control system • Report their progress and issues to their seniors timeously and during scheduled team meetings • Manage client expectations by adhering to deadlines and not deviating from agreed deliverables • Able to function on their own or as part of a team • Provide junior developers with support and mentoring • Be available after hours during deployments and emergencies • Lead and manage a team’s day-to-day and overall progress MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Formal software development training or relevant IT qualification essential • Minimum of 2-3 years development experience essential • Current Microsoft development certification would be advantageous • Adobe CS suite (web/print) • HTML5 & CSS3 • JavaScript and jQuery • ASP.NET.
