TELEVISION BROADCAST REVOLUTION: I have written books and magazine articles about television, radio BROADCAST TECHNOLOGY - my first book was published in 1985 by Richard Branson and I have written more than a 1,000 magazine articles reviewing digital cinema and television technology. In the last 3 years there has been an awesome digital revolution in cheap desktop television production technology. I have produced and directed 16 x 2hour documentary films and made 600+ TV Shows (just this summer I produced and edited 81 new television shows for the ENIGMA CHANNEL), and I can say that it has never been EASIER or CHEAPER to broadcast globally - for example, the Australian BLACK MAGIC DIGITAL company make digital-cinema and television cameras which cost £600, VESTAX make a 4-channel video switcher and audio mixer which streams out via USB for £335, BEHRINGER make broadcast radio audio mixers with USB for £189. THE ENIGMA CHANNEL has been broadcasting since 1999 and we have established our own movie studio too... I teach my students how to use the most popular gear used in HOLLYWOOD such as RED-CAMERA (used on THE HOBBIT), BLACK MAGIC DIGITAL and Mac-based USB streaming suites... Technology as it stands now - such as the VESTAX PBS-4 4-channel video switcher and the BLACK MAGIC streaming feed box DOES INDEED ALLOW LIVE TV TO BE PRODUCED CHEAPLY - but the choice of video equipment which I have seen at the TPV studio requires overly complex and overly labour-intensive engineers, camera-operators and creates a data stream which is way over-specified for an online streaming-based TV station.
