TELL ME YOUR STORY Last week Choose to Succeed had the privilege of meeting with parents from IDEA Carver to discuss parent advocacy. We were discussing the importance of each family’s unique story on how they came to choose a high performing charter school for their student. Right then and there a lovely mom turned over her information sheet and shared her journey to IDEA Carver: “I had been foster parenting my four grandchildren and every year moving to a different school has been very hard on them. Now, I have adopted them. When I heard about IDEA Carver and the lottery system I also heard that they have a 100% college acceptance of their graduates. At this point I made the choice to apply. I wanted to change their chances of getting lost in a system. As a parent, I made a conscious decision and felt a responsibility to enroll them, taking an active roll in their school because there is a waiting list. Now they will be going to one school no matter where we move to. Our trailer park has been bought out and we have to move again, but my children will get to stay in the same school which is why I appreciate this school and choice I made.” – Barbara Adam, proud IDEA Carver parent What is your story?
