TEMPORARY GATE 1 CLOSURE Beginning Monday, August 25 through Friday, September 19, Naval Station Great Lakes Gate 1 Main Gate will be closed to vehicle traffic, both inbound and outbound. Pedestrian access will remain available at Gate 1 via the pedestrian turnstile. This temporary vehicle gate closure is required due to demolition of the former Red Cross building (Building 76). During the temporary gate closure, Naval Station Great Lakes Gate 4, located north of Gate 1 at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, will be opened 24/7 for vehicle access. Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to stay alert for construction crews and obey all traffic control directions. This temporary gate closure is necessary to ensure the safety of those transiting to and from the installation, as well as on site construction crews. We appreciate your patience during this demolition project and temporary gate closure.
