TENTH YEAR OF ANNIVERSARY “To the victims and survivors of this natural disaster Do not get any bitter Do not grow any weaker Let your stubborn spirits to survive not quiver Let your indomitable bravely not shiver Let your hopes and dreams never glow with a flicker But with a courage to carry on ever after!” Walls of waves higher arose Walls of waters taller rose Billions tonnes of seawater particles dispatched By the collision of two oceanic tectonic plates A natural disaster is hatched A calamity ever livid in the whole world creates A train trail of tumultuous, tempestuous Tsunami procreates Giant Walls of waves beat our bodies with such hardness Goliaths Tall, tides slapped our buildings with such madness Colossal Tolls of sea debris scraped our beaches drying bodies bad-ruthless Falls of breaking backlashes injured, killed and buried us, heartless Its aftermath’s worse, left us devastated-hopeless We were wretched We were wrenched We were retched The aggression The abrasion The collision The corrosion The erosion Meant deaths Thousands of lives lost Dozens of disasters in different countries Thousands of families heartbroken Millions of families affected Hundreds of Millions of families infected Billions of properties destroyed O Tsunami! Had you to come on Boxing Day? And a day after the Christmas joyous gay Had you to come on Christmas festive time? On Indo, Thai, Sri, India and as many coastal beaches belt Burma, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Maldives, and Madagascar its tremors went Kenya, Yemen, Somalia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, its trauma spelt Its murderous waves swept Tsunami sad madness swept Deadly tsunami swept Until the whole world wept As life was made inept Deaths, heft Heft death grieves Wailed on Sea shores graves Large water walls Swallowed us alls Swallowed life Gullibly galloped life Swallowed buildings Galloped our livings Galloped our farmlands Galloped our homelands A decade ago now We still remember how How Lives got cruelly shuttered Souls got seriously shuddered Sprits severely suffered A never be again life you offered To this day we recall The disasters overall The panic The havoc The tragic Your ill impact On our lives did inflict Injure But we endure Boxing Day, 26th December, 2004 Will remain sadly memorable You are in the world’s eyes and minds unforgettable You are ever regrettable You go in our memories As a part of our saddest histories A part of the weather disasters miserable stories Nature’s worst water calamities With thousands of innocent casualties For eternities
