TERE MERE KHANI CHAPTER- 6 The way life unfolds its pages to us can be quite surprising and scaring sometimes. We look for a miracle to happen, look up to God to show His mercy on us at times of grave moments, and one such miracle is waiting for Indira and Rishi, too. Unknown to them, a change is about to happen to their lives, bringing back smile and happiness to their lives; love is about to bloom again, and colour their lives. But will Indira and Rishi feel this warmth of love again? Only time will answer this question, and for now, they just have to follow the tide. It is a beautiful evening with a gentle breeze blowing outside and the Sun setting down; a romantic evening, perfect for lovers to pour out their hearts. Indira wore pink-colour sari and got Riya dressed too in a beautiful frock of Riya’s choice. As Indira is waiting for the taxi-cab, she undergoes a strange feeling; a feeling she felt once, when she first fell in love with Rishi; her heart beats fast and she is feeling nervous. All these feelings make Indira tensed and she starts sweating, and as she is about to change her mind, the honk of the car makes her feel excited again; and Riya, holding her mother’s hand pulls her in the car and they leave. Tina: She’s all busy preparing the dinner for her guests and especially, for Riya, who is hard to please, as the little girl finds only her mother’s recipes delicious. On the other side of the story, Rishi too is very happy, perhaps, the happiest in all these years after his surgery. He gets in his car and on his way remembers to buy Riya a gift, as it is the first time he’ll be having dinner with his sweet little friend .On reaching Tina’s house, Rishi becomes anxious and keeps ringing the door-bell until Tina opens the door. Tina: Opens the door, “Oh! Tum Hoin, Kiya Rishi, Mein Soochrahi Thi Ki Riya Hogi,Jiska excitement ka Koie Thikana Nahin.” Rishi: “Excited Toh mein Bhi Hoin,Itne Deno Baad Aapne Dost Se Jo Mil Raha Hoin.”; gets in and keeps his jacket on the table and says,” Mein Tumhare baat Nahin Karr Raha Hoin ;Mein Toh Riya ke Baat Kar Raha Tha,” laughs. Tina: Smiles and says, “Tabhi Meinbhi Soocho Ke Tum Mujse Milne Paar Itne excited Toh Nahin Ho Saakte. Aur Indira Ko Toh Tum Jaante Hin Nahin.” As Tina and Rishi talk about their lives and work, suddenly Rishi’s eyes falls on a woman, who gets out of a taxi-cab and looks beautiful in pink, which happens to be his favourite colour. As he sips his coffee, Rishi’s eyes follow this mysterious lady as long as she is visible. Meanwhile, the door-bell rings and Tina goes to answer it. Tina: Opens the door and sees Riya and Indira, and welcomes them. “Aajawo Mein Tumlogo Ka Hin Intezer Kaar rahin Thi.” She notices Riya’s eyes searching for her friend, so she says, “ Aacha Tina aunty Ko Hi Bhi Nahin Bola Aur Aapne friend Ko Dhundne Laag Gayi.Wo Aarahe Hain, washroom Mein Hain.” Indiira: Although she does not express her feeling, but she is too anxious to meet Riya’s friend, who has raised her curiosity for a while, especially after the phone call.”Tina Chalo Mein Tumhe kitchen Mein help Karte Hoin, Aakele Pura dinner Baana Na Kafi difficult Hain, Itne Jano Ke Liya.” Riya plays with her doll, as Rishi comes from behind and kisses her cheeks. Riya: Turns to see her father, and gives him a tight hug, and rains kisses on him. Rishi: He is so happy to see Riya that, his eyes become wet when he is loved and cared so much by her.”Aare Mera Dost Kase Hoin Aap? Meine Aapkona Bohot miss Kiya.” Riya: Holding him says,” Riya Ne Bhi miss Kiya Paapa.” Rishi: Surprised to hear Riya call him papa ,looks at her with a smile and suddenly remembers about the gift he got for her.”Aare Mein Toh Bhul Hi Gaya Mein Riya Ke Liya Ek Toofah Laye Hoin.” He grabs the big bag from the table and takes out the gift. It is a cute teddy bear, Riya’s favourite toy, ever. Riya: Gets down from Rishi’s lap and hugs her teddy and runs to the kitchen to show her gift to her mother.”Mamma, Riya teddy.” Indira: Happy to see her daughter so happy, hugs her and says,” Are Riya Ke teddy Toh Riya ke tarha Hin cute Hain. Magar Yeh Gaandi Baat Hain Na, Aapne Apke friend Se gift Kue Manga?” Rishi: Interrupts Indira, as he has been hearing the conversation. “Aare Mere Dost Ko Kuchbhi Maat Kaheya, Use Toh Paata Bhi Nahin Ke Mein Uske Liya teddy Laa Raha Hoin.” Indira: Drops the bowl from her hand as she sees Rishi standing in front of her. She freezes and turns white as if she has seen a ghost. Tina: Senses that, something is not right, looking at the strange reaction of Indira and shakes her and asks,” Indira,Kiya Hoya, you are sweating?” Indira: Unable to compose her words start stammering and go to the wash basin to avoid Riya’s attention.” Woh Kuch Nahin, Riya Aap Aapne friend Ke Saat Jau Aur Khelo.” Rishi: He feels quite uncomfortable and thinks that Indira might have not liked him bringing a gift to Riya .He quietly leaves with Riya to the living room. In the kitchen, Tina makes Indira sit on the chair and gives her a glass of water. Tina: “Indira, Kiya Howa? Bohat Aajeb reaction Tha Tumhara. Ek gift Keliya Tum Ase react nahin Kaar saakte.” Indira: Starts weeping and composes her words and says, “Tina Wo, Wo Rishi,Mere Rishi Yeha! Riya Ke Papa.” Tina: Shocked at what Indira is saying, asks,” Indira Thik Tarha Mujhe Batawo. Tumhara Rishi, Tum Mujhe Saach Mein Bohot tension De Rahin Hoin.” Indira: Opens her clutch bag and takes out Rishi’s photograph that she has been carrying all these years with her .And more than words this explains quite a bit. Tina: Holding Rishi’s photograph looks at Indira, who is in a state of trance.”Indira Aagar yeh Tumhara Rishi Hain Joki Wapas Tumhare Zindagi Mein Aachuka Hain, Toh Tumhe Kush Hona Chahe Ye Yaar; Baalke Mujhe Laagta Hain ke Bhagwaan ne Mujhe Yeh Mukka Diya Hain Ke Mein Dwo Bichre Dilwo Ko Milawon.Chaloo Wothoo.” And Tina takes Indira to the living room. Rishi: He is being thinking over the matter for a while, how Indira reacted and he is feeling bad that, may be Indira did not like him giving such an expensive gift to Riya. So, as soon as he sees Tina and Indira come to the room ,he goes near Indira and says,” I’m sorry, Wo Mujhe Iss Tarah Aapse Bina Puche Riya Ko gift Nahin dena Chhaheya Tha.” Indira: Keeps looking at Rishi with wet eyes and tries to feel his presence, when Tina comes and holds her hand and gets her out of the trance. Now, Indira realizes what Rishi just said and she is surprised to hear him apologize. Tina: She feels there’s some communication problem between the two and normalises the situation by saying,” Chaalo Aab Ek Dusree Ko Khurna Baand Karo Aur celebrate Karte Hain Aajke Shaamko.” Rishi: “Celebrate, Kue. Inka birthday Hain AaJ?,” and reaching out his hand towards Indira wishes her,” Happy Birthday Indiraji” Both Indira and Tina look at each other with surprise. While Indira feels hurt, thinking that Rishi is angry with her for keeping him apart from his daughter; Tina figures out that, something seriously is wrong. Then Riya comes and takes Rishi with her, holding his hand. Tina: Looks toward Indira, who is sad and sitting at the corner near the window.”Indira, do not look so upset, I’m sure Rishi Maazak Kaar Raha Hain, Uske sense of humour Bhi Aajeeb Hain.” Indira: Smiles and says,” Sense of humour Nahi Tina, Woh Mujse Naraaz Hain,Aur Mein Aapne Rishi Ko Aachi Tarha jaante Hoin.Unka Gussa Itne Jaldi Thaanda nahin Hoga;Aaghir Unke Bete Ke Baare Mein Mene Unhe Aanjaan Rakha Na.Paar Rishi Nebhi Kabhi Aapne Indira Ke Baare Mein Jaane Ki Koshish Nahin Ke.” She starts weeping. Tina: “Wait a second, Tumne Rishi Ko Riya Ke Baare Mein Nahin Bataye...” Riya: Sits on the dining table and starts making sound with the spoon, along with Rishi. Tina hears it and tells Indira that Riya must be hungry; they should finish up dinner first. They all sit for dinner and Tina serves them, while Indira keeps on looking at Rishi, who is busy talking to Riya. Rishi: Starts having his food, when, suddenly he starts coughing and feels irritation in his throat as he eats eggplant, to which he is allergic to. Tina: “Kiya Howa Rishi, Paani Peelo, Khanna Pasand Nahin Aaya!!!!” Rishi: Cannot answer as he feels chocked. Indira: Immediately gets up from her chair and checks the bowl from which Rishi has been eating, and panics saying,” Aapko Baigan Se Allergy Hain Na Toh Kue Kahi?; Chaliya Jaaldi Muh Rinse Kejeya....” Rishi: Listens to Indira’s advice and goes to the wash-basin and rinses; he feels relieved and drinks water. Tina: Looks at Indira’s concern and she is surprised how Rishi has obediently listened to Indira.”Sorry, Rishi Mujhe Paatah Nahi Thaa Ke Tumhe Baigan Se allergy Hain.” Rishi: “Come-on Tina, Tumhe Kese Paatah Hoga.I’m feeling much better now, thanks Indiraji.” Indira: Feels insulted that Rishi is addressing her as a stranger; she feels hurt and doesn’t say anything and diverts her attention towards Riya, who is scared for her father. Rishi: Observes Riya being tensed and gives a smile and says,” Aaray Riya Ko Kiya Howa, Tumhare friend Bilkul Theek Hain, Wo Thodi Se Khasi Hogaye Thi.Chaalwo Aab Riya Aur Rishi Aaramse dinner Karenga.” Riya: Gives a broad smile and grabs the spoon from Indira’s hand and gives it to Rishi to feed her. Indira: She is touched to see this daughter-father bonding, and now she understands why Riya has been always excited to meet her new friend, why she is always happy at the mention of his name. Tears fill Indira’s eyes, but she hides them and says, “Riya Bete Aap Baigan Maat Khana Thik Hain.” Rishi: Looks at Indira and says,” Riya Kobhi allergy Hain Baigan Se?” Dinner is almost over and Tina gets up to take out the pudding from the refrigerator, and takes Indira along with her to help her in serving. Tina: In the kitchen, “Indira Kiya Baat Hain, Itne Pareshaan Kue Ho? Thoda Waqt Ddo, Mein Tumdono Ke Beech Ki Is communication gap Ko Thik Karongi.” Indira: Doesn’t utter a word and sits still as if she has been struck by a thunder. Tears roll down her eyes and she keeps looking outside the window. Tina: Finds it very unusual of Indira , and holds her shoulders and says, “ Indira, Istarha Khamosh Rehkar Tum Mujhe Daara Rahin Hoin. Kuch Toh Bolo, please.” Indira: Turns toward Tina and says,” Khuch Boloo, Kiya Boloo? Ke Mere Zindagi Mein Ek Tufaan Aaya Hain, Jo Mere Wojoot Ko Hilake Rakh Diya Hain. Jis Insaan Se Mein Ne Saabse Zaada Pyaar Kiya Hain, Woh Mere Saat Ek Stranger ke Tarha behave Kar Raha hain.....Wo......” Tina: Holds Indira’s hands and says, “ Wohin Toh Mein Paata Karongi, Ki Rishi Ki Berukhi Ka Kaaran Kiya Hain; and more surprisingly, Usne Mujhe Kabhi Bhi Tumhare Baare mein Kue Nahin Baatayein? “ In the living room, Rishi plays with Riya and calls out for Tina to serve the pudding. They all sit and Riya and Rishi enjoy their bowl of pudding; while Indira sits quietly and look at Rishi from time-to-time, hoping he would talk to her, but in vain, as Rishi behaves absolutely formal with Indira as he would with any unacquainted woman.
