THANK YOU FRIENDS & NEIGHBORS for attending this evenings meeting in Fitzwilliam. We had good attendance with people expressing various concerns about the proposed pipeline - everything from overall climate concerns to wetland and conservation land disturbance to noise and blasting near private homes. The Board of Selectmen and Conservation Committee reminded each other and us that public comments made by board/committee members are not necessarily those of the board/committee, they are unofficial, personal comments. These town boards are under the constraints of their official positions and must work within those boundaries. We are most respectful of this and appreciate their efforts and time put forth now and into the future with respect this and all town issues. It is clear that we must UNITE, ORGANIZE, and NETWORK with other communities and towns within and outside of our state. We have been connecting with other groups (below) and will continue to do so. It is understood that we have jobs and commitments, but in sharing responsibilities, we can cover meetings, events, protests, etc. quite well. This is why we need to build a strong network of concerned citizens. In fact, it was mentioned this evening that this is how Massachusettes defeated the pipeline. They had strong support in opposition to this pipeline expansion. Communities took strong and purposeful action. Please continue to follow updates here. Talk with your neighbors and friends. Invite them to meetings and groups. This may move quickly. We need to ORGANIZE NOW so we are not blindsided by the actions of Kinder Morgan, who already seem to be moving in stealth mode (no surprise there).
