THANK YOU! I want to take the time to thank all those involved in public safety for the work that they do, day after day. This has been a long and busy summer for both law enforcement and the fire department, who are charged with restoring public order and keeping the peace: events, protests, a rash of water main breaks, crimes (for reasons beyond their control), and other eruptions in town. Looking at the faces of the police and fire department staff that work near my home, office and usual haunts, these public servants look like they’re exhausted. In addition to going the extra mile, these overworked public servants are working under the threat of suppressed wages, which I find unconscionable. Yet, they show up every day and perform, admirably. To those who keep us safe and sound, THANK YOU! (y)
