THAT MORNING I woke up that morning And was too worried to say good morning To the one who for my sake neither sleeps nor slumbers Cos in my pocket and wallet was no money Then I heard the wailing of my neighbour mourning His elder brother Banky has just gone on a never ending journey The very same one who owed me some money Very funny How I would join in the mourning Thinking about my money I got very angry Cos already in a despicable state was my poultry And like cars on the Lagos-Ibadan express way Too many questions Running down the lane of my memory What would I eat Why would life be so cruel Why was I the first born to have to cater for two of my siblings Why wasnt my father rich enough to make me struggle less And on and on The questions came rushing And like the source of the ocean I had no clue as to Which questions to answer And what answers to give *deep sigh* The rumbling in my stomach Reminded me that I had gone to bed the night before Hoping I will get something to eat in my dream I tried to get up Arrrrrgh, a very sharp pain on my waist Hey wait! Whats that foul odour The poor rat must have died of hunger I looked up and there it was again The wall gecko I wonder why it was always there every morning staring at me Guess checking on me to see if I was still alive *smh* I pulled aside what was suppose to be my cotton And like a double edged sword The rays of the bright morning sun Pierced through my louverless windows Wow What a beautiful morning The grass has grown taller The rubbish hip is pressed down, shaken together and running over Now very conspicuous like mount zion that cannot be moved Hey wait! Whats that weird taste in my mouth *spits out* Oh no, not again I had eaten a portion of my pillow Then it dawned on me The sight of the rubbish hip The foul odour The taste in my mouth The pulling of the torn cotton The sound of the wailing My FIVE sense are active An experience only the living go through I AM ALIVE then I realised I wasnt the one who had gone on a never ending journey I caught a smile and said JESUS good morning All of a sudden I heard a loud bang on my door I got up, opened up *shocked* it was Banky I just returned from my Ibadan journey he said Handing over to me my money *smiling* OH MY GOD I had been dreaming When there is life, there is hope The lesson I learnt THAT MORNING Thank you I Love you All *hugs* Mister Rain ...d Prophetic Comedian ff @komedy_kafe
