THAT, the Taluksangay Community is the host of the Oldest Masjid, recognized by the National Historical Institute of the Republic of the Philippines and considered by the Retired Colonel John P. Finely, USA Army in 1919 as the finest structure of its kind in the Southern Philippines and which a photograph and description of the masjid was filed in May 1918, at the Palace of the Sheikh Ul Islam (The Grand Mufti of Islam) in Istanbul, Constantinople and thereafter received the blessings of the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. THAT, living the great legacy of the FOUNDER Tuan Datu Hadji Abdullah Nuño Maas who envisioned equal opportunity for Education, Governance, Peace and Development. The revered leader earnestly held that a well ordered family was the foundation of good citizenship and prosperity of every community that could be best secured and maintained by them though faithful observance of the tenets of the Quran; THAT, the only Muslim community which has preserved the unique Sama-Banguingui Culture in Zamboanga City and was awarded by Peace Advocates Zamboanga (PAZ) and Social Advancement for the Literacy Agenda for Muslims (SALAM) with the Prestigious Peace Weaver Award for Community in 2001; THAT, the Interreligious Solidarity Movement for Peace (IRSMP) in its Historical and Solidarity Journey with the members of the Community declares that Taluksangay Community is in SOLIDARITY for a collective commitment to the cause of PEACE in the community, city, region and country. On this memorable day, the IRSMP together with significant leaders of Zamboanga City and the people of Taluksangay pledge to continuously walk together in the promotion of dialogue and brotherly relations among Zamboangeños through strengthening the Culture of Peace.
