THATS ALL A MULE CAN DO. I have a brilliant older brother (my two younger brothers are brilliant too) but, but this pertained only to Doyle, my older brother. Anyhow, Doyle was representing our country school in a declamation contest with some other country schools. Two teachers were transporting Doyle to the site of the contest. Doyle was expressing some discomfort at being in front of all those people and having to give his recitation. One of the teachers said to him, Just do the best you can. Thats all a mule can do. Well, Doyle told me about this, and neither of us had any idea what it meant, but I just looked it up on Yahoo, and guess what? A mule can efficiently carry a certain percentage of his body weight. He could carry more than that, but it would diminish his efficiency. So the teachers were trying to tell the little boy, Do the best you can and enjoy it. If you get anxious and try too hard, it will only diminish your effort. Thats true isnt it! How many times have most of us done less than our best by trying too hard?
