THE ARMISTICE PALS CD IS AVAILABLE FROM MERRY HELL We are very proud to have been a driving force behind the @armisticepals project - A Folk Community Song For Peace, which marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War in a way that also celebrates the influence of Pete Seeger on both folk nusic and humanitarian thinking. The Armistice Pals single features 40 distinctive voices from the folk world, plus a Pals Chorus of another 100 voices, many of them friends of yours and ours. It also features vocal contributions from Peggy and Pete Seeger, musical backing from Merry Hell and vocals from Virginia and Andrew. The recording was produced by our very own John Kettle. the CD also features an Armistice Pals recording of Virginias achingly beautiful Emerald Green plus two tracks featuring Peggy Seeger, one reciting the poem I Have A Rendezvous With Death, written by war poet Alan Seeger, Peggys uncle, plus a further track where she movingly explains the background to both the poem and the poet, who later died at the Somme. A fitting tribute to all who suffered as a result of WW1, a reminder that many have suffered since and continued to suffer as a result of armed conflict. All profits go to peace related charities and there is also the opportunity to make a donation. The CD is £2.50 plus postage and we recommend it to all who know and like us.
