THE BAMBOO AND THE MANGO TREE Proverbs 3: 5 Trust in the LORD - TopicsExpress

THE BAMBOO AND THE MANGO TREE Proverbs 3: 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. Do you often look down upon people by virtue of their status in life? Are you the type who thinks I know all? Let me remind you that a true genius admits that he/she knows nothing Its okay to disagree with the thoughts or opinions expressed by other people. That doesnt give you the right to deny any sense they might make. Nor does it give you a right to accuse someone of poorly expressing their beliefs just because you dont like what they are saying. Learn to recognize good writing when you read it, even if it means overcoming your pride and opening your mind beyond what is comfortable. As long as you are proud you cannot know God. A proud man is always looking down on thing and people: and, of course, as long as you are looking down you cannot see something that is above you. The greatest lesson in life is to know that even fools are right sometimes.” On the highest throne in the world, we still sit only on our own bottom. Pride is a dangerous vice and let me share with you what happened between a mango and a bamboo tree sometime ago. Mango Tree and Bamboo grew up together. One day, Mango Tree asked Bamboo. “Bamboo, why are you so thin? Look at me. My trunk is big and strong.” “Mango, I may be thin but I am not weak.” “Are you sure you are not weak? Besides, what help do you give to people? You don’t bear fruit.” “I may not bear fruit, but people love to eat my shoots.” “You don’t give mush shade. Look at me. People want to rest under my shade.” “People use me in building their house, bridges, and many things.” “If they always do that, there will be nothing left of you.” “I thank the Lord for what He has given me. I believe each of us has something to do for others.” That night, a strong wind came. Mango Tree stood proudly against the wind. But Bamboo bent his head and bowed to the wind. The storm stopped in the morning. The mango tree was rooted. But Bamboo was still standing. “Thank you, Lord for saving me from the storm.” MORAL: Do not be too proud. Everybody has a purpose why they live, everyone is special in their own simple way. The bamboo knew itself, particularly its faults and weaknesses, but in acknowledging and accepting it, it found itself standing tall and noble. Humility is a wonderful trait. Unlike the bamboo, the mango tree is unswayed and proud. While it watched mocking the bamboo’s struggle, the truth is life continues to unfold and change. The mango tree will one day be uprooted and leveled for it planted itself unyielding and arrogant. True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less. Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are. Stay blessed and safe as you learn to be humble and eschew pride.
