. THE BIRTHDAY BASH . Yesterday, was Akshat birthday... I sent the cake and some snacks to his hostel at 8th night through my wellwishers in Delhi and the friends were there to celebrate it and I assured him to present a LAPTOP of his choice as a gift, when we will meet next... Yesterday, he had the best of time, when he with his friends went to the water park and followed by evening dinner outside... In the process lost his costly mobile also......Anyhow, we were happy, he must be happy too.... ..... Seriously, this made me take a u turn to my life, and I started thinking about my childhood.... Any birthday is exciting,, not for the small child but more to the parents... I still remember, my parents used to buy a new dress, generally, it used to be the school uniform, so that proper utilization of money can be done. I used to wear that uniform and when I was in the school, my feeling was like a prince with some toffees, worth 5 paisa each, to be distributed to friends and one costly one, worth 50 paisa for the class teacher... Friends used to stick like honeybee for the extra toffee.... Till evening,,, I used to be the monarch of all i survey... Throughout the day, i was very caring for my NEW .dress, because I had to wear that in evening also with my mohalle walefriends .... Evening time was another amazing life. My respected Mother and elder sisters used to make kheer, pakora and Suji ka halwa(Which was also a birthday cake, for the evening party, nicely decorated). Brothers used to decorate the room with all those color papers and some of the old drawing books burnt the burden. I used to cut the cake(Suji Ka Halwa) sitting in fathers lap and friends were excited singing songs (without Music) and eagerly waiting to have a bite of that cake and snacks and mouth tempting cold drink (Water with sugar, mixed and some color). My parents used to present me a costly gift like pressure cooker, or frying pan, or once I do remember the costliest one ,,,, THE GAS STOVE.... I used to proudly show this to my friends... All these gifts were the useful household items for which, the planning used to start 2 months back.....SO PLEASING, SO SATISFYING,,,, Still feel, those were the costliest gifts of my life..... and after that from next day onwards, i used to wait for my next birthday. ... Time has changed,, mindset has changed.... BUt , what love, affection, care my parents had with their meager source of Income..... I am still not able to.....JUST wish,,,, The family bond, love, is not measured by money, but the BIG HEART which the parents have for their son and daughter...... .... Love u AKSHAT and AKRITI
