THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE NYS BLUES FESTIVAL IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE RETURN OF ITS FOUNDER, JIMMY MURPHY. Mr. Murphy was the principle founding member of the blues festival in 1992 and acted as festival director through 2003. He will return to the organization as festival director after a nearly 10 year absence. Murphy was also the festival director when it won the 2003 “Keeping the Blues Alive” award for best promoter/festival, presented by the Blues Foundation based in Memphis, TN. Jimmy Murphy is also stepping into the role as interim president. “I, along with the thousands of fans and most everyone in Central New York, love the blues festival. For me personally, I have truly missed assisting in its preparation. I look forward to working together with the board of directors in planning and presenting the 2014 festival.” added Murphy. We’re happy to say that Todd Fitzsimmons will remain on the board as a coordinator of community projects and overseeing fundraisers, as well as several other important elements. We are also happy to announce the first of many events, which will occur in early November. It will include great entertainment, a raffle, and lots of other goodies. Details will be announced in the very near future. There is much more to come throughout the year, so keep watching. The board is currently focusing its time and energy on planning and preparing for a successful 2014 and has some exciting things in the works. Stay tuned!!
