THE BOOK OF REVELATION CHAPTER 9 VERSE 3 AND THERE CAME OUT OF THE SMOKE LOCUSTS UPON THE EARTH: AND UNTO THEM WAS GIVEN POWER, AS THE SCORPIONS OF THE EARTH HAVE POWER. And there came out of the smoke, John observed the smoke of the bottomless pit billow upward and it appeared to be carrying forth creatures that appear to be locusts, carrying them forth out of the smoke in droves, II Chronicles 10:1. There came out of this smoke billowing out of the bottomless pit, Locusts upon the earth. These locusts rose up out of the bottomless pit and landed, or settled to the earth. Satan seems to have unleashed his own plague upon his own people who are the remnant of earths inhabitants at this time, Exodus 10:14. Locusts are repeatedly to in the Scriptures as bringing devastating plagues and this will be no different. This will be their most devastating act of all; so severe nothing in the area of their alighting will escape their inflicting a pain, Joel 2:3. These locusts was unleashed with the authority to carry their pain inflicting tasks, and unto them was given power. There was given administrative authority, or the right to function, in carrying out their devastating ruin on the earth. Their presence would bring destruction to the livelihood of man and beast doing great harm also to what plant life was remaining, Exodus 10:15. The power (or authority) that was given unto these locusts was: as the scorpions of the earth have power. They had the power like a stinging scorpion when they were unleashed from the bottomless pit, Deuteronomy 8:15. Remembering: there was no redeemed on the earth at this time; except, the 144,00 of the 12 tribes of Israel that are hid away. Yet, these scorpion stinging locusts will inflict a very painful sting of great annoyance upon the open inhabitants of the earth, Ezekiel 2:6. These locust will appear after the redeemed (saved) are gone from the earth and will have no affect whatsoever upon them, nor any affect upon the sealed 144,000 of each of the 12 tribes of Israel, Luke 10:19.
