THE BUTCHER OF NORTH KOREA By Osondu Ahirika It is hard to find a parallel anywhere in this 21st century. News coming from North Korea, one of the last outposts of fascism is dire indeed. North Korea executes shamed generals family. Kim Jong-Un, The reclusive despot leader of that unfortunate nation still engaged in Emperor worship, in one fell swoop, ordered a bloody purge of relatives and children of Jang Sang-thaek, his uncle, himself put to death by Kim Jong-un, last December. Perhaps, only late Iraqi strongman, Saddam Hussein, and his Libyan clone, Maumar Gadaffi, also of blessed memory, had the sadist capacity for such depraved filial mass murder, with its shocking impunity and brutality. Until he fell out of favour with the leader, Jang(not Jonah Jang the Plateau state governor and factional Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum), was a powerful general in the military before his execution. When Kim Jong-Uns father died in 2012, Jang Song-thaek was entrusted by the ailing former leader to mentor his son, who was heir apparent until he consolidated his hold on power. Kim Jon-un was barely 22 years old when his father who ruled North Korea with an Iron fist like his grandfather before them, died. It is no surprise that his relationship with his once powerful uncle and Military spook was embroiled in mutual suspicion and distrust. It was a question of time before, one moved against the order. Sadly, it is the juvenile autocrat who is desperate to intimidate the vast nation, the large army at his command and some obviously ambitious elements within the system, that made the first and devastating move. Kim Jong-un executed his uncles entire family, including his children and relatives serving as ambassadors to Cuba and Malaysia. This bizarre event, in keeping with that nations character, was kept under wraps, but was leaked to the dumbfounded world by South Koreas state news agency, Yonhap. Kim referred to Jang as worse than a dog and human scum in his announcement of his execution, which he said was for treachery and betrayal. Pictures showed Jang being led from his office by state security. All relatives of Jang have been put to death, including even children. The executed relatives include Jangs sister Kye-sun, her husband and ambassador to Cuba, Jon Yong-jin, the ambassador to Malaysia, Jang Yong-chol, who is Jangs nephew, as well as his two sons. The two ambassadors were recalled to Pyongyang in early December, and they thoughtlessly returned not figuring out the uncertainties that inevitably awaited them, given the frosty relationship between Jang and Jong. How tragic the consequence of that indiscretion. The sons, daughters and grandchildren of Jangs two brothers were all executed. Had they gone into exile, having known the history of the Kim dynasty, that is written in wanton blood letting and murder of citizens, they would have saved their heads. One source told Yonhap that some relatives were dragged out of their houses and shot in front of a crowd. Such outrageous incident coming from North Korea, shouldnt in reality shock us. Truth is, the system of Government in place there defies placement. It has all the trappings of a monarchy, yet it is not. It looks like a civilian rule, yet it is more like a diarchy. It is a strange hybrid that for want of classification, I will term, a constitutional totalitarianism. Kim Jon-un is the State. He is the Law. He is above questioning. No one would dare sue him for the callous murder of innocent relatives who were all extended part of the royal family ruling North Korea for decades now. It was on June 1, 2001 that Nepal, another mongoloid nation, had a similar wipe-out, of a royal family. On this day, the king, queen and 11 other members of the family were massacred by the crown Prince, Dipendra. Dipendra allegedly had a fall out with his mum over his choice of a bride. At the end of a shootout in the Palace in Nepals capital, Kathmandu, following which he turned the gun on himself, King Birenda, Queen Aishwarya and Prince Niranjan were among the dead. Other victims including, three more children of the king, his two sisters and one more member of the family by marriage were also gunned down. The only person left unhurt in that massacre was the Kings brother, Prince Gyanendra, who was out of the country at the time of the incident. The irony of the Nepal Royal family massacre was that, on the same day of the unprecedented tragedy, Queen Elizabeth II and her nation were celebrating her 59th year on the throne. She had taken her coronation oath as the constitutional monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain on June 1, 1953 in Westminster Abbey in London. In 1990, the late King Birenda, who ascended the throne in 1972, had bowed to nationwide pressure to legalize political parties and accept Parliamentary democracy after Great Britains model. That marked the beginning of constitutional monarchy in Nepal. North Korea will do well to explain to the world, what system of Government it operates and the right designation of the Kim Jong- Un family which runs the secluded nation as their private orchard. The world must rise up to this butcher and not continue to falter and foot drag as this third generation from that breed, continues to re-write the hapless nations history with blood, sorrow and tears of their emasculated people. Even the muderous Macbeth, in William Shakespeares epic play of the same title, held back when faced with the prospect of engaging a Macduff in the battlefront. In desperation to secure his reign as King of Scotland which he grabbed by murder of king Duncan, Macbeth engaged in serial killing and ordered the elimination of another army chief, Banquo, as well Macduffs family, considering them and their seed a threat. His wife and kids were slain, but Macduff escaped alive and face to face with Macbeth in the battle field, Macbeths conscience pricked him. To Macduff he said, of all men else I have avoided thee. But get thee back, MY SOUL IS TOO CHARGD WITH THE BLOOD OF THINE ALREADY So I ask, will Kim Jong Un III sleep easy and his soul not be unsettled by the ocean of Jang and familys blood. This evil will live with him and haunt his days. In the end, we will see. As you are enjoying social media platforms on internet, North Koreans are forbidden from such luxury. You are free to migrate from Nigeria and visit the Bahamas for vacation, the people of that nation are barred from traveling out at will. They are forced to venerate the ruling family and deify the supreme leader. So much money is poured into the military arsenal that the people are virtually starving but smiling. North Korea listed as one of the nations in the axis of evil by former American President George Bush continues to dare the world and get away with barbarism. I know God is not asleep. A day of reckoning will surely come for this monstrous bloodline of Kim Jong Un. When? I dont know.
