THE CUPBEARER TO THE LORD “Blessed is the man who bears the cup - TopicsExpress

THE CUPBEARER TO THE LORD “Blessed is the man who bears the cup which the LORD himself drank from”: Being the Cupbearer to the LORD is a great blessing. It is not every cup in the hand of God that the Lord drinks from: Therefore, the cup of the Lord does not necessarily mean the cup he drinks from: There is the cup which he drank from, and there is cup which he holds but he never drank from. The wicked shall drink from the cup of the LORD which the LORD never drank from, but the righteous in Christ Jesus will drink from the same cup which he drinks from (Mark 10:39). Now when a man holds and drinks from the same cup which a King drinks from, the man becomes a cupbearer to that king: Remember it is not just the cup which belongs to the king, but the very cup which the king drinks from. If a man holds a cup that belongs to a king, it does not make him a cupbearer to the king, unless the king drinks and still wants to drink from that very cup: and it is a blessing to be a cupbearer to the King. This I will illustrate to you, as the Holy Spirit related to me. To illustrate this, let us use the story of Joseph: There were two instances in which a man held a cup which a ruler drank from in the whole story of Joseph, and they were different men to different rulers: FIRST INSTANCE: The cupbearer to pharaoh held the cup of pharaoh even while he was in dungeon (Prison) - that is, he held the cup of pharaoh in his dream and pharaoh still drank from the same cup in that dream, even though the cupbearer was in dungeon. The interpretation of that meant he was going to be raised or restored by Pharaoh, to still reign with Pharaoh because he held the cup which Pharaoh drank from (Genesis 40:9-13). SECOND INSTANCE: The cup which Joseph the Prime Minister of Egypt drank from, was made to be placed in Benjamin’s sack so that Benjamin will be his cupbearer; because he loved Benjamin more than all his other brothers and he wanted Benjamin to remain with him as his servant while all his other brothers can go free: Yes he drank from that silver cup and even used the cup for divination (Genesis 44:5, 1-17). Now the brothers thought that meant doom for Benjamin, but it actually meant a blessing for Benjamin and the restoration of his Brother Joseph back to him. Therefore, when Jesus held the cup which his father gave to him to drink, he was holding the symbol of the greatest gift and blessing of the Father: Whoever holds the cup which the King drinks from in his hand, even if he is in a dungeon like the cupbearer was, he shall be restored and raised to sit among princes; and whoever holds the cup which the LORD drinks from in his hand, even if he is on the cross or in the dungeon of hell like Jesus was, he shall be raised to sit with the Father in his kingdom; as also James and John who wanted to sit with Jesus in his kingdom was confronted with drinking from the cup which Jesus drinks from (Mark 10:39). One may ask, how does the cupbearer in the time of Joseph relate with Jesus Christ? Let us relate the two with the following analysis: 1. In the case of Joseph, there were three men in that same dungeon; and in the case of Jesus crucified, there were three men physically hanging on the cross in that same condemnation (Luke 23:40). 2. Among the three men in the case of Joseph in dungeon, one was the cupbearer (the chief butler), another was the interpreter (Joseph) while the third remained a criminal or sinner till he died (chief baker): And in the case of Jesus crucified, one was the cupbearer (Jesus Christ), another was the interpreter (the penitent who believed in Jesus crucified) while the third remained a hardened criminal till he died. 3. In the case of Joseph in the dungeon, the interpreter was the only innocent person facing the same condemnation with the criminals, yet the interpreter understood that his innocence will not get him out of that condemnation because he is not the cupbearer to the king; so the interpreter wisely pleaded with the cupbearer to the king to remember him when he is restored into his kingdom again (Genesis 40:14-15): And in the case of Jesus crucified, the interpreter knew that the cupbearer was the only innocent person facing the same condemnation, yet the interpreter understood that his guiltiness will not keep him that condemnation forever; so the interpreter wisely pleaded with the cupbearer to the Almighty God to remember him when he comes in his kingdom (Luke 23:40-43). 4. In the case of Joseph in the dungeon, the cupbearer to pharaoh remembered interpreter after two full years were gone (Genesis 41:1, 9): but in the case of Jesus crucified, the cupbearer to the Almighty God remembered and took the interpreter with him into paradise that very day (Luke 23:43). 5. In the case of Joseph in the dungeon, the one who died as a criminal was comparing himself or competing himself with the cupbearer to the king instead of humbly pleading with cupbearer to assist him just as the interpreter did; so the interpreter rebuked him by interpreting his dream to mean his head shall be cut-off and the rest of his body will be crucified on a cross (meaning hanged on a tree) while the birds eat his flesh that is hanged on that tree (Genesis 40:16-19): in the case of Jesus crucified, the one who died as a sinner was comparing himself or insulting the cupbearer to the Almighty God instead of humbly pleading with the cupbearer to assist him just as the interpreter did; so the interpreter rebuked him by saying, ‘ you do not fear God, even though you are in the same condemnation’ (meaning even though you hanged on this cross) or even though you are bearing the cross; so he was hardened from the fear of God, even at the point of his death on the cross (Luke 23:40). 6. In the case of Joseph in the dungeon, three days after the interpreter spoke, the cupbearer was raised by Pharaoh from the dungeon and restored into his kingdom again; because he was his cupbearer (Genesis 40:20-22): And in the case of Jesus crucified, three days after the interpreter spoke, the cupbearer was raised by God Almighty from death and from the dungeon of hell, and he was restored into his everlasting kingdom again; because he was the cupbearer to the Father Almighty. These things are real, and you need to understand these things.
