THE DAY THAT I MET BSMT V11…. REALTALK…this happened to - TopicsExpress

THE DAY THAT I MET BSMT V11…. REALTALK…this happened to me….this is my story…. I was given two classes to handle composed of all men…and I was told that they are naughty and stubborn. They are 54 boys all in all; merged into one class to conserve time....They are the BSMT (Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation) 2nd year section V11A and V11B… FIRST DAY OF CLASS : Someone exclaimed “Hellooooo….!” and everyone burst into laughter. SECOND DAY OF CLASS : Somebody shouted “Tedddyyyyy…!” and everyone laughed. THIRD DAY OF CLASS : Someone secretly shouted “Halleluaaaah….halleluaaahn” and the laughter never ended. While I am inches away from the door, somebody whispered “Mr.Beaaaaan…..” FOURTH DAY OF CLASS : I made a powerpoint presentation and showed it to the class through LCD projector. It was my class rules with Mr. Bean appearing on every slides. I was expecting that everyone will laugh – but NO! Their faces were cold, without reaction. When I gave them a 15-minute break…one my student approached me and said “ Sir, we did not expect that you will react differently.” “What do you mean?”, I asked curiously. “We taught that you will get insulted and get mad at us to the extent that you will going to report us to the Dean…..like what other teachers did. But you are different; you did not react negatively at all to our insults”. When the class returned from their break…I told them: “Class, someday you will become teachers or mentors or captain of a ship. When you stand up and face your men, you should apply the principle of “pre-emptive strike”. Meaning to say you must identify first thing on hand, all your defects, imperfections or flaws that could be used against you before you face your men and USE IT IN A POSITIVE WAY. For example if you have been told or mocked by your men as “kalbo” or “Ilong Ranger”, how would you react? If you got mad furiously and berate your men, it just shows that you don’t accept and love yourself and you are a complete loser. But if you will accept it in positive way and acknowledge your flaws, it will reflect how strong leader you are. You are setting an example to your men – to become STRONG, CONFIDENT, RESPONSIBLE AND RESILIENT even if you are BULLIED OR INTIMIDATED AND PRESSURED. From that day onwards, the barrier between me and my class was completely gone…and we all walk out of the room “best of friends” together….like true BROTHERS… This is the day that I defeated my enemy…I never knew that I can make my worst enemy as my ally…my friend….MR.BEAN now is a part of my life…and I am now stepping on his shadow…he is my slave now… ….and this is also the day I got attached and committed to BSMT V11, the best class I have ever handled in my entire career so far. I GAVE YOU MY SINCEREST FAREWELL AND MY SNAPPIEST SALUTE TO ALL OF YOU!
