THE DOG IS SCREAMING FOR HELP IN THE RAIN says a neighbor in KCK..... I frequently hear that Kansas City, Kansas is useless, cold and corrupt, in terms of its response (or lack thereof) to animals needing assistance and/or to picking up strays in that area. Today is no different. Citizens of KCK need to finally demand better. MAYOR MARK HOLLAND needs to hear from you that you will no longer tolerate seeing strays on every block, or backyard breeders, or watching a neglected dog waste away for OVER A MONTH while the people you PAY with your taxes dont do anything. Its inexcusable. Whoever is calling the shots is either inept, totally apathetic or completely cold. Something needs to be done. There are several neglect cases going on right now as we speak. In one, neighbors have called multiple times regarding a dog not having food, water or shelter. The dog was left to fend for itself in a fenced yard a month ago. Animal control has been called multiple times, but has not been able to do anything! AC is literally arguing with the legal department about it this morning. The KCK LEGAL DEPARTMENT head (JODY BOEDING) will not let them take any dogs for neglect unless she approves it and she says no to every single request. She says its personal property and that would mean they were stealing. It requires a warrant and she wont send any of the neglect cases to the judge because they arent worthy. We need everyone to call the KCKS legal departments phone, email, etc and demand they confiscate neglected pets without the basic necessities to survive!
